PE
Leader: Mr B Bowles
There are five teachers and a cluster assistant working within the PE department. A full range of resources and equipment is available for each of the sports taught at KS3 and KS4 and facilities are excellent, including an astro-turf surface, a sports hall, a gym, a weights room, two squash courts, four tennis courts, a dance studio and the academy field area.
Twelve different sports modules are taught at KS3 including Football, Basketball, Hockey and Netball. Cultural Games is taught and the Young Leaders' Award offered. Students are required to wear full PE kit for all lessons and this is available to purchase from the main office.
All pupils have 5 tracking assessments per year and are given a target level to work towards.
A very extensive Extra Curricular Schedule that runs all through the school year is on offer. The Eastbourne Academy competes in Eastbourne , County and National Competitions. Most successes in recent years have been in Boys' and Girls' Football, Basketball, Table Tennis and Cricket.
At Key Stage 4, three Exam courses are offered: GCSE PE , BTEC PE and JSLA PE ; all three options have a blend of Practical and Theoretical work that make up the assessment.
The PE Faculty ran trips last year to Wembley Stadium, to Table Tennis tournaments, to Sussex County Cricket Club, to Brighton and Hove Albion matches and to Blacklands Farm.
