The Eastbourne Academy

Media

Leader: Mr D Lawson

Students have the opportunity to use iPads, digital still cameras, camcorders, iMacs and, voice recording, PCs, white boards and multi-media teaching.

Media is part of the National Curriculum in English. For each year of KS3, one of the end of term assessments is a Media piece. GCSE Media Studies is an optional course at KS4 and is very popular with young people so they may go on to study this at post 16. From 2011 students will be taking the new style GCSE exams which involve controlled assessments.

Students can take part in many extra curricular activities such as the Eastbourne Youth Radio event which is co-ordinated by the Media Dept. and is an annual live radio broadcast. The Media Department provides press support for the school and the students are given the opportunity to be involved in these activities.
