Two full-time teachers make up the ICT faculty, with two part-time specialists. There are four main ICT teaching rooms, all having digital projectors and interactive white boards. The Academy has other computer rooms that are dedicated to various faculties.
In Key Stage 3, students will use all of the following in their project work: PowerPoint, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia, online communication, web design, system control, reliability of data, animation, game making, designing graphics and creating video. They may be able to sit a Level 2 qualification in Year 9 (OCR national worth one GCSE at a pass, merit or distinction). A great deal of work related learning in Year 8 and Year 9 is covered, and students also have access to the Academy network 24/7, as well as to the "I am learning" website.
At Key Stage 4, many students may follow a GCSE in ICT covering the theory of ICT and two ICT projects. Or students may follow the OCR national examinations in ICT, with a variety of topics on offer. These may include animation, web design, video editing, graphics for the web, ICT for business, multimedia, desktop publishing, e-commerce and many other topics. Currently Functional ICT is offered for those students who follow the Diploma courses.
