New Academy Buildings

On Friday 21st January 2011 MP Stephen Lloyd joined staff, students and govenors to celebrate the news that we have been awarded ten million pounds to rebuild or refurbish the buildings here at the Academy. Mr Lloyd has fought our corner at Parliament level and has help secure the funds in such an uncertain economic climate.

There has been a lot of work carried out at The Academy to provide the best value for money and improve the learning environment for our pupils.

UPDATE JANUARY 2012

We are currently in the process of ‘signing off’ the plans which means that the planning process has reached its final stage. We are also deciding on the furniture and ICT provision. The  building programme will commence in Term 6 when staff parking will be moved to an allocated area adjacent to the playing field with the access being via the Lindfield gate. Students will be able to enter the building via the front entrances and there will be a small visitors’ car park retained near the front gate. After the exams finish in June, it is likely that we will lose access to the hall. During  the Summer holidays the Octagon will be refurbished; the PE changing rooms will be installed on the ground floor of the Octagon building and the top floor opened up as an exam space, which can also be used as a Drama space. From September, some of the Darwin teaching will take place elsewhere in the school.
